Ventilation Systems Overview

Bag Dust Collectors can operate on all types of processes provided the correct filter material, air-to-cloth ratio and pulse clean system is selected.  Filters are normally 10’ to 14’ long and are a nominal 6” diameter. Walk-in plenums, housing insulation, hopper heaters, hopper vibrators, screw conveyor discharge and air slide discharge are just a few of the available options when determining the complete system design.  Beltech Engineering and Associates Inc will guide you through this selection process, if required, to ensure you have the best system possible.

Cartridge Dust Collectors can operate on nearly all types of processes provided the correct filter material, air-to-cloth ratio and pulse clean system is selected.  Some processes produce a dust that will tend to blind or excessively cake the filters, which makes the cartridge an ineffective selection. The largest benefits of cartridge collectors are their size and front access to filters, allowing them to be placed in extremely tight locations, without compromising maintenance accessibility. Cartridges are normally 3’ to long and 12.75” diameter.  Beltech Engineering and Associates Inc will guide you through this selection process, if required, to ensure you have the best system possible.

Cyclones / Inertial Separators are used primarily as a form of pre filtration for a fabric or wet scrubbing system.  The effect is that the large particles are removed from the air stream, therefore reducing the dust loading on the final filtration stage.  Cyclones are also often installed to improve a marginal system, by reducing the dust loading and making the system more reliable.

Wet Scrubbers are a specialized, highly efficient form of filtration to remove fine particles, fumes and vapours form air streams.  Scrubbing systems are also custom designed and to be done properly require a system analysis.  Special considerations need to be made for fabrication quality to avoid leaks; construction material selection as some solutions are corrosive; and cold weather conditions to avoid freezing and line bursts.  Once operational wet scrubbers tend to very reliable, require only normal maintenance.

Binvents are very simple systems that can be either bags or cartridges and depending on the design of the bin, they can either be installed with or without a fan.  The specific design of the binvent depends entirely on how it is going to be used and so this would need to be discussed in detail with the engineer prior to specification.

Mist Eliminators draw the mist laden air through a series of impingement surfaces and filters in order to remove and capture mist, normally cooling liquids.  The captured liquid can be returned to the sump for particulate filtration and reuse.

Welding Ventilation equipment supplied by Beltech is the highest quality available in the market.  We supply a full line from our stand-alone portable ventilation units that require only a 110V plug to complete custom designed work centres that can deliver parts, personnel cooling while ventilating the fumes and not interfering with shielding fumes.

Traveling Exhaust is a method of supplying local exhaust with one hood to multiple locations, which minimizes the amount of air volume required.  This system is particularly suited to large process and process emitting severe contaminants.  Foundries find this system useful for their casting operation to follow the ladle.

Travelair Supply is a specialized system to bring outside clean, cool air to crane cabs and crane mounted electrical panels without the need for bridge mounted air conditioning units, which are notoriously maintenance intensive. The Travelair system requires only basic quarterly inspections and maintenance to ensure trouble-free operation.
